THE FAMILY MOUNTAIN#3

MY FAVORITE TOPIC

Family Mountain would be my favorite topic. Being a great-grandmother with 4 generations under my belt I love family. I am blessed to be born in a very loving family. We always took in other children as well to be part of our family. It was just something that was a part of who we were and still does. As a small child, there were times if my mother introduced me to Aunt somebody or Uncle somebody if they were born in the family or just taken in. I came to a point that I didn’t or did it matter.

IMPORTANCE

Family is so important because it is a support system, you know you have someone in your corner. It can be challenging but nonetheless a great comfort. There are so many levels, some far away, some close by, some much older and some much younger. That is why the Holidays can mean so much because it brings them us together. It’s a celebration. When distant relatives see the younger children have grown so much it is exciting. There is so much to share.

STAGES

There are so many stages that we go through as a unit, there are marriages, new births, and deaths. There are celebrations of all types. The marriage, the birth of the 1st child, the 1st grandchild, the 1st great-grandchild, with us we have had 5 generations twice with the 1st great-great-grandchild. It is an exuberant feeling. Don’t forget about the birthdays, the anniversaries, the graduations, sports events, major accomplishments of all kinds. It’s all part of the Family Mountain.

The Different Age Developments

The most exciting thing about being part of a family is to watch the development of children from birth to adulthood. I have had many experiences with this and it is that which I want to share on this particular mountain.
